~PINO~
Pino Dangelico, born in Italy Nov. 8, 1939. Trained at the art institute of
Bari and Milan's Acadamy of Brera, Pino perfected his skills painting nudes
heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli.
Growing up with the faded glories of Renaissance art and architecture at his
doorstep, Pino was in tune with the energies of a new era, and despite his
phenomenal success as one of the leading European illustrators of all time, he
wanted to be closer to the dynamic art center of the world, New York. He
immigrated to the United States and was soon discovered by the distinguished
Borghi Gallery, which held several prestigious exhibitions in New York and
Boston. For the next two decades, Pino's oeuvre was marked by hundreds
of book covers paintedfor romance novels written by Daniel Steel, Summerfield
and Amanda Ashley.
Pino's canvases elicit feelings of warmth, nostalgia,
love and family. His alter-ego as a young boy surrounded by beautiful
women is found in various states of emotion ranging from adoration to
isolation. Many of Pino's characters frequently inhibit sensuous
boudoirs and dressing rooms in anticipation of their husbands or lovers
returning home. Feminine, ephemeral forms of flesh, whose light and
shadows suggest depth and mystery are contrasted with explosive passages of
rich, textured color in compositions that are as much about how the artist
feels as what he sees. It is the subjective illusion of space juxtaposed with
an abstract acceptance of the painting's flat surface that sets Pino's work
apart from others artists.
Exclusive "The Gypsy" by Pino The Gypsy- 22"
x 20" canvas Giclee'
This is an absolutely wonderful piece.
Pino's canvases are very low
